He Unravels Us

We are on day one in a five day series on "No Longer Slaves," you can read the introduction here.

It has been several months since I felt compelled to do a study with my daughter on "No Longer Slaves" by Jonathan David and Melissa Helser. My favorite thing about the song is it is a testimony and declaration of what the Lord has done and will do. When I sing the song I can feel my spirit soar, my faith increase and my fear dissipate. I wanted to share that with her and as I wrote felt led to share it here.
You unravel me with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone

This is not just great songwriting, it is TRUTH.
You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me about with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from ALL my fears. Psalm 34:4
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. Psalm 18:17
As I studied what it means to "unravel" I found a most interesting defition on Dictionary.com:

unravel: destroy a plan, agreement or arrangement

He destroys the enemy's plan and our agreement with him. Let this sink in, let it wash over you, until ALL YOUR FEARS ARE GONE!

There was a missionary in India sponsored by my church and she came to speak whenever she was in the states. She was the house mother to about 45 orphans and she always had powerful testimonies of God's deliverance to share. These kids had seen and experienced horrific things. One child in particular was having tremendous difficulty and experiencing great opression, but as they prayed the Lord set her free. When she got free do you know what she did? She began to pray for the other kids to be set free, she prayed that they would not rest until they were free. They began to be set free too.

I believe it is the same with the Lord, He will not rest until we are free. He neither sleeps nor slumbers, so while we are asleep in our bed Psalm 42:8 says that "His song is with us."

What are you afraid of? How does fear affect your life? Will you allow Him to unravel you?

Lord, thank you for setting us free from fear. You are our light and our salvation of whom or what shall we be afraid? Sometimes we get so tangled in our lives we need You to come unravel us and sing songs of deliverance over us, allow us to hear Your song of victory. Thank you for fighting for us so we can have peace in the waiting. Let the truth of Your Word sink deep into our Spirits, so we might be made new. Amen.
