When Victory Came

There was a moment I sensed things were changing.

We've been in a battle for years, it ebbs and flows like the tide and when the tide is out we can breathe a little easier, but inevitably it rolls back in. We hold our breath as the waves crash over us.

It’s a horrible way to live.

If you know me you know I trust God with everything and His faithfulness is like a stamp over my life. His goodness pours like honey and He never fails to show up in spectacular ways. Even so, we have been in a battle and in the midst of all the goodness and mercy we have struggled.

Struggled to hold on.

Struggled to believe.

Struggle to function.

Struggled to do the next right thing.

Struggled to forgive.

Struggled to be kind.

Truth is…

He holds me.

I believe.

He is my strength.

He directs my steps.

He forgives me.

He is kind. So kind, in fact, it leads me to repentance.

When I don’t do the right things, He does. He always does. Somehow He fills the gap until I catch up. He covers me. Completely covers me.
He will cover you with His feathers,
and under His wings you will find refuge;
His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm 91:4
That verse has sustained me, given me hope and life. I hold onto it for dear life sometimes imagining myself under His enormous wings, covered so nothing can touch me. It’s true, that’s how it works.

Protected by Him, completely.

With all the verses, encouragement and hope there were days and still are, but there was a moment in worship last week where something shifted. I can’t explain it other than to say I “sensed” things were changing. There was a powerful presence of the Living God and I sensed that presence was pushing back the dark.

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19
What I sensed and what I saw was victory! Victory coming in and over my household. So, although circumstances have not changed there is victory, His standard, over us. His standard is like the confines of a river, it does not allow the river to overflow, or flood.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
I choose to believe Him and declare His promises are yes and amen!
